I moved to China in 2018 to study Mandarin and ended up staying. Over the years I built real relationships with factories, learned how Chinese manufacturing and trade actually works, and became part of the supply chain rather than just a buyer on the outside of it.

During my visits to Kenya I kept seeing the same problem. Entrepreneurs were paying too much to import from China, not because the products were expensive, but because the process was broken. Too many middlemen. Surprise charges at the border. No idea what the real landed cost would be until it was too late. I was in Chengdu, inside the supply chain, speaking the language, knowing exactly how it worked. So I stopped watching and started building.

From 2021 I was informally helping Kenyan entrepreneurs source products from China. In 2024 I formally launched Pamoja Imports. Today I split my time between Chengdu and Kenya, working directly with our ground team to make sure every order we handle is vetted, fairly priced, and delivered right.

What makes Pamoja different is that we are not operating from a desk in Nairobi browsing Alibaba. We have a sourcing team physically based in Chengdu, China, visiting factories, verifying suppliers, and coordinating shipments directly with manufacturers.
