Frequently Asked Questions

China to Kenya import questions, answered

Everything you need to know about the China to Kenya import process, answered by the Pamoja Imports team.

We source products from verified Chinese suppliers on your behalf, coordinate shipping by air or sea, and handle customs clearance so your goods arrive at your door. This China to Kenya import FAQ covers the most common questions we get, but if you need anything else, we are always a WhatsApp message away.
Send us a WhatsApp message or Instagram DM with a photo or description of the product you want. Include quantity, preferred color or size, and your budget if you have one. We will search verified suppliers and send you a quote in KES, usually within 2 to 3 business days.
Your first 10 sourcing requests are completely free. After that, a 2000 ksh deposit is required per order, which is deducted in full from your final order value. Our service fee is included in the product price we quote you, so there is no separate charge on top.
We do not use Alibaba as our primary sourcing platform. We source mainly from Pinduoduo, 1688, and Taobao, which are domestic Chinese platforms used by local buyers in China. Prices on these platforms are typically lower than Alibaba because they are not designed for international buyers. This is one of the reasons our clients get better prices than if they sourced from Alibaba themselves.
We source primarily from Pinduoduo, 1688, and Taobao, platforms with built-in accountability, ratings, and transaction history. We use image-based product search to find the closest match to what you need, then cross-check supplier ratings, sales volume, and reviews before quoting.
The more detail you give us, the faster and more accurate your quote will be. At minimum we need a photo or description of the product, your target quantity, and any specifications like size, color, or material. A budget range is helpful but not required. Send us what you have and we will work with it.
Once payment is confirmed, we place the order with the supplier immediately. From there, we monitor production, confirm when goods are ready, arrange collection to our warehouse in China, pack and consolidate your shipment, and book freight. We keep you updated throughout and notify you when your goods have landed in Kenya and are ready for delivery or pickup.
Yes. Our shipping price is all-inclusive and covers import duty, VAT, IDF, RDL, and customs clearance. The shipping cost depends on your chosen method (air or sea) and the weight and volume of your specific shipment. For a full breakdown of all charges, see our Kenya import duty guide.
The minimum product order value is 30,000 ksh, excluding shipping. If your order is smaller than this, reach out anyway. In some cases we are able to accommodate smaller orders depending on the product and situation. Use our profit calculator to estimate what you can make on an order before committing.
100% upfront payment is required before goods are ordered. We accept M-Pesa. For first-time clients with trust concerns, an escrow arrangement is available. All payments go through Pamoja Imports. We never ask you to pay a Chinese supplier directly.
We source from high-volume wholesale platforms where prices are transparent and competitive. Our service fee is built into the product price, and we are upfront about that. If you have seen a similar product elsewhere, share it with us and we will tell you honestly how our price compares.
We have processed multiple orders for repeat clients who trust us with significant sums. All payments go through Pamoja Imports directly, never to a supplier’s personal account. Our founder is publicly identifiable. For first-time clients who want added assurance, we offer an escrow arrangement where funds are only released once you confirm receipt of your goods.
For shipping from China to Kenya we offer air freight at 1,700 ksh per kg and sea freight at 65,000 ksh per CBM. The right option depends on your shipment weight, volume, and urgency. We will always recommend the most cost-effective option for your specific order. Use our shipping calculator to get an instant estimate.
Air freight arrives in 7 to 14 business days. Sea freight takes 30 to 35 days. On top of transit time, factor in roughly 5 days for production lead time from when we place the order to when goods reach our warehouse and are packed for shipping. Custom or made-to-order products may take longer.
We document packaging and product condition with the supplier before dispatch where possible. If there is a discrepancy or damage, we follow up with the supplier on your behalf to resolve it. Having Pamoja Imports in your corner means you are not chasing a foreign supplier alone.
Yes, and we encourage it for new product lines. Samples ship via air in 7 to 14 days. Sample costs vary by product and supplier and may or may not be credited against a bulk order. We always clarify the sample policy with the supplier before you commit.
Yes. We handle shipping coordination for clients who have already sourced their own products. We collect from the Chinese supplier, consolidate, freight, and clear into Kenya. A coordination fee applies. Get in touch and we will give you a quote based on your shipment.
Yes, and this is one of the most common ways our clients order. We consolidate multiple products from different suppliers into a single shipment, so you pay one shipping cost for everything. This is more efficient and more cost-effective than shipping each product separately.
Our core focus is Kenya. If you are based elsewhere in East Africa, reach out and we can discuss whether we are able to assist. We do not currently offer regular shipping routes outside of Kenya.
Clothing, shoes, bags, wigs and hair products, electronics and accessories, beauty and personal care, household goods, packaging materials, and general merchandise. If it is made in China and you need it in Kenya, reach out and we will tell you whether we can help.
Yes. Many Chinese factories offer OEM and private label services. We can connect you with manufacturers who will apply your brand name, logo, or custom packaging. MOQs for branded orders are usually higher, and there is typically a one-time setup cost for labels or molds.
Completely safe when done correctly. Importing from China to Kenya carries real risks only when you go in without the right support: paying unverified strangers, skipping quality checks, and misunderstanding import regulations. Pamoja Imports exists to remove all three. We have verified supplier relationships, experience with Kenya trade routes, and a process built around protecting your money.
